Granny Hanging Basket - Free Crochet Pattern

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Darning Needle - To weave in ends
Stitch Marker

GAUGE:
Not important for this pattern

SIZE:
One Size
> Width 10.5” - 11” > Length 11”

Pattern
Make 2:

** Holding 2 strands of yarn together at all times **

R1. Ch3, join with a slip stitch to beg ch to form a ring, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in ring, ch1, 3dc in ring, ch1, 3dc in ring, ch1, 3dc in ring, ch1, join with a slip stitch to beg dc (4 groups of 3dc)

R2. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in each ch1 space around (corners made) join with a slip stitch to beg dc (4 groups of 3dc, ch1, 3dc)

R3. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) * 3dc in next space, work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in next ch1 space (corner made) * Repeat around ( 4 groups of (3dc, ch1, 3dc corners) + (4 groups of 3dc)

R4. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) * 3dc in next 2 spaces, work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in next ch1 space (corner made) * Repeat around ( 4 groups of (3dc, ch1, 3dc corners) + (8 groups of 3dc)
R5. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) * 3dc in next 3 spaces, work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in next ch1 space (corner made) * Repeat around ( 4 groups of (3dc, ch1, 3dc corners) + (12 groups of 3dc)
R6. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) * 3dc in next 4 spaces, work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in next ch1 space (corner made) * Repeat around ( 4 groups of (3dc, ch1, 3dc corners) + (16 groups of 3dc)
R7. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) * 3dc in next 5 spaces, work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in next ch1 space (corner made) * Repeat around ( 4 groups of (3dc, ch1, 3dc corners) + (20 groups of 3dc)
R8. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) * 3dc in next 6 spaces, work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in next ch1 space (corner made) * Repeat around ( 4 groups of (3dc, ch1, 3dc corners) + (24 groups of 3dc)
R9. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) * 3dc in next 7 spaces, work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in next ch1 space (corner made) * Repeat around ( 4 groups of (3dc, ch1, 3dc corners) + (28 groups of 3dc)
R10. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in same space, ch1, 3dc in same space (corner made) * 3dc in next 8 spaces, work (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in next ch1 space (corner made) * Repeat around ( 4 groups of (3dc, ch1, 3dc corners) + (32 groups of 3dc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.



Joining:

> Lay both pieces flat on top of each other with wrong sides facing outwards.

> Starting on one of the corners, slip stitch in each st around until 3 sides are completely joined, leaving the last side unworked.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing:

** Use a stitch marker for the rows below **

R1. With basket right side facing, join yarn at the opening of the basket in line with the slip stitches down one of the sides, ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) 1sc in same st, work 59sc evenly around opening, do not join carry on to next row (60sc)

R2. 1sc in next 30sts (make sure you are in line with the slip stitches down the side of the basket once you finish your first lot of 30sc stitches) ch20, 1sc in next 30sts

R3. 1sc in first 30sts, work 20sc in ch20 space, 1sc in last 30sts (80sc)

R4. Slip stitch in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg st (80sts)

Fasten off and weave in ends.
