Mini Kids Bobble Cardigan - Free Crochet Pattern

Hello friends! I have a super cute mini kids crochet cardigan pattern today with bobbles, this pattern is very easy and fun to work up for your little one and they will be wearing it in no time!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:


Darning Needle - To weave in ends

GAUGE:
12.36 dc and 7 rows = 4 inches (10cm)
6.18 dc = 2 inches

SIZE:
Mini Kids 1-2 years
> Width 12.5” > Circumference 25” > Length 15.5”

Special Stitch Bobble: (yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops) Repeat this 5 times in the same stitch indicated, yarn over and draw through all 6 loops on hook.


Pattern
Back:

R1. Ch38, 1dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch st across, turn (37dc)

R2. Ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in same st * Bobble in next st, 1sc in next st * Repeat across, turn (37sts)

R3. Ch2 (counts as 1dc) * 1dc in top of bobble st, 1dc in top of next sc * Repeat across, turn (37dc)

R4-R5. Ch2 (counts as 1dc) 1dc in each st across, 1dc in top of turning ch, turn (37dc)

R6-R29. Repeat rows 25 (Row 29 should be a repeat of row 5)

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Front Pieces Make 2:
R1. Ch20, 1dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch st across, turn (19dc)
R2. Ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in same st * Bobble in next st, 1sc in next st * Repeat across, turn (19sts)
R3. Ch2 (counts as 1dc) * 1dc in top of bobble st, 1dc in top of next sc * Repeat across, turn (19dc)
R4-R5. Ch2 (counts as 1dc) 1dc in each st across, 1dc in top of turning ch, turn (19dc)
R6-R29. Repeat rows 25 (Row 29 should be a repeat of row 5)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Joining:
>> Lay back piece flat with wrong side facing outwards and right way up.
>> Lay one front piece on top of back piece with wrong side facing outwards and line up end stitches on the right hand side.
>> Seam 11sts across the top for shoulders starting from outside stitch first on the right hand side, working inwards towards the neck.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
>> Lay second front piece on top of back piece with wrong side facing outwards and line up end stitches on the left hand side.
>> Seam 11sts across the top for shoulders starting from outside stitch first on the left hand side, working inwards towards the neck

Fasten off and weave in ends.

>> To seam sides up, cardigan needs to be wrong side facing and using yarn and needle, leave the top 9 rows unworked and seam downwards to join, repeat on both sides (I used the mattress stitch to give more of a seamless finish)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Arms:

R1. Join yarn to bottom of underarm, ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1dc in same space, work 33dc evenly around armhole, join with a slip stitch to beg dc (34dc)

R2-R17. Ch2 (counts as 1dc) 1dc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg dc (34dc)

R18. Ch2 (counts as 1hdc) 1hdc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg hdc (34hdc)

R19. Ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg sc (34sc)


Fasten off and weave in ends. Repeat on other arm.



Finishing Front Sides and Neck:

>> With cardigan right side facing, join yarn on left front side at the bottom of the cardigan, ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1hdc in same space, work 57hdc evenly up the left front side of cardigan, work 35sc evenly around neck, work 58hdc evenly down right front side of cardigan


Fasten off and weave in ends.
